Homeland on Monday released its season three teaser trailer, which gives viewers a heads-up on at least one of the series’ upcoming story lines.
The clip, titled “Signals,” plays like a transient radio-wave pick-up — with no visuals, just cryptic sound bites — and shines special spotlight attention on the character of Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), who is on the lam. Upon listening, Brody’s voice can be heard, saying “Does Carrie know I’m here?” and “Just need to get my strength back,” among other snippets.
Homeland‘s season two ended with a terror attack (pegged to Brody) that obliterated the U.S. intelligence apparatus, and season three opens during the aftermath, with a global manhunt crying for the head of “terrorist” Brody. Carrie (Claire Danes) and Saul (Mandy Patinkin) get their personal and professional lives back on track, while trying to survive the political and media maelstrom surrounding the attack and search.
Showtime in May announced that a slew of guest stars would appear in a variety of roles in the Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning series’ third chapter. Among those slated for spots include Joanna Merlin (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) as Jessica Brody’s mother; Nazanin Boniadi (How I Met Your Mother) as Fara, an analyst; Amy Morton (Boss) as Carrie Mathison’s CIA-appointed attorney Erin Kimball; Gary Wilmes (Louie) as a psychiatrist; and Sam Underwood (The Last Keepers) as a new friend of Dana’s, among others.
Homeland last year tied for most wins of any program at the Emmys, bagging six wins, which included Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actress and Actor in a Drama Series.
