
Sony announced the NXCAM HXR-NX30J today, a miniature camcorder aimed at the professional market, with one real twist — a projector capable of creating an image of up to 100 inches. The camera uses a 1/2.88 CMOS sensor, which is capable of recording at up to 1080p at 60 frames per second, paired with a Carl Zeiss-manufactured 26mm wide-angle lens with 10x optical zoom. It also introduces Sony's "Balanced Optical Steadyshot" technology, described as an industry first, which seems to use Steadicam-like stabilization on the entire optical system, allowing for far more dramatic moves than traditional camcorders. Apparently designer Joe Doucet isn't satisfied with the idea of holing up in the mountains to get away from it all, and has come up with an artistic solution.
